About the Firm
A specialist advisory firm for the digital age
Tools of Tech provides strategic technology advisory to public-sector bodies, critical infrastructure operators, and regulated enterprises — helping organisations navigate cybersecurity, AI governance, and digital transformation with clarity and confidence.
Who We Are
Independent advisory, grounded in expertise
Tools of Tech is a UK-based strategic technology advisory firm. We work with organisations that face complex, high-stakes technology decisions — where the consequences of getting it wrong are significant, and where generic advice is not sufficient.
Our advisors bring together deep expertise across cybersecurity, artificial intelligence governance, digital transformation, defence technology, and critical infrastructure resilience. We operate at the intersection of technology and policy — understanding both the technical substance of the challenges our clients face and the regulatory, governance, and accountability frameworks within which they operate.
We are an independent firm. We have no vendor relationships, no product affiliations, and no commercial interests that could compromise the objectivity of our advice. Our only obligation is to our clients.
Our Focus
Public Sector
Central and local government, NHS, and public institutions managing technology risk and digital transformation.
Critical Infrastructure
Operators of essential services navigating NIS2, resilience requirements, and OT/IT convergence.

Regulated Enterprise

Our Approach
How we work with clients
Every engagement is structured around the client's specific context, objectives, and constraints. We do not apply generic frameworks or off-the-shelf methodologies. We invest time in understanding the organisation, its risk environment, and the practical realities of implementation before we offer recommendations.
01
Understand
We begin every engagement by developing a thorough understanding of the client's organisation, objectives, risk environment, and existing capabilities. This informs everything that follows.
02
Analyse
We apply rigorous analysis — drawing on technical expertise, policy knowledge, and sector experience — to identify the key issues, gaps, and opportunities relevant to the client's situation.
03
Advise
We deliver clear, structured, and actionable recommendations — proportionate to the client's context and designed to be implemented within real operational and resource constraints.
Our Principles
What guides our work
Independence
We provide advisory that is free from vendor relationships and commercial conflicts of interest. Our recommendations are based solely on what is right for the client.
Technical Rigour
Our advisory is grounded in genuine technical understanding. We do not rely on frameworks alone — we engage with the substance of the technology, the threat, and the operational context.
Policy Literacy
We work at the intersection of technology and policy. Our advisors understand the regulatory landscape, legislative context, and governance requirements that shape technology decisions in public and regulated sectors.
Proportionality
We deliver recommendations that are proportionate to the organisation's size, risk profile, and operational constraints — not generic frameworks applied without judgement.
Discretion
We understand the sensitivity of the work we do. Clients can expect the highest standards of confidentiality and professional conduct in every engagement.
Practical Outcomes
Our measure of success is whether clients can act on our advice. We focus on clear, structured recommendations that translate into tangible improvements.
